Creating pairings for a golf tournament is an important task for the organizer, but many people find it difficult to decide how to do it.
Common suggestions include:
For business-related tournaments, place superiors and guests of honor in the first group.
For group participants, group them together in a casual tournament; for competitive tournaments, group them separately.
These methods are useful when used according to the purpose of the tournament. Also, equalizing golf skill levels is effective in any tournament. When creating pairings, check the handicap (HDCP) and average score of each participant, and then check the total handicap and average score for each group. By creating pairings where all groups have roughly the same total, you can prevent situations where some groups play too fast, others too slowly, or where there are too many gaps between groups.
"Compekun" offers a function to automatically create pairings based on handicap and average score, making it easy to create optimal pairings.
This is one of the automatic pairing functions available when creating pairings. The skill levels of each group will be matched. Inputting each participant's handicap and average score is required. The following diagram illustrates how pairings are determined by circulating through participants, arranged vertically in order of lowest handicap.
